American reporters and U.S. Secret Service members were confronted by members of the Chinese press corps outside the White House ahead of Xi Jinping’s meeting with President Donald Trump on Thursday.
Footage taken by White House reporters shows Chinese journalists pushing for better positions and ignoring instructions from the Secret Service.
“There was a lot of shouting and chaos as they resisted moving for the Secret Service,” reported Connor Stringer from The Telegraph.
Meanwhile, Christian Datoc from the Washington Examiner noted, “Tensions are rising; officials are threatening to escort a Chinese representative out for obstructing official cameras.”

“To put it in perspective, the U.S. press can be aggressive, but the Chinese press tends to be physically pushy and ignores guidance from staff and Secret Service,” commented Mary Margaret Olohan from Daily Wire.
Iris Tao from NTD News later reported that a Chinese photographer had shoved a U.S. female journalist inside the White House briefing room.
“A Chinese male photographer pushed an American female journalist as he rushed into the Oval Office,” she mentioned.

Currently, Trump is hosting Xi at the White House for significant discussions during a grand state summit, which marks the Chinese president’s first visit to the U.S. capital in over ten years.
Trump welcomed Xi with a military flyover, and both leaders stressed the significance of their discussions on artificial intelligence. They are also anticipated to cover topics like Taiwan and the conflict in Iran.
