A Connecticut man faces multiple charges in the deaths of a mother and her young son, whom he allegedly killed over money the woman owed his mother.

New details have been released regarding the November arrest of Lance “Macho” Morales, 23, who made his first appearance in a Hartford, Connecticut, court on Monday.

Morales is accused of killing 20-year-old Jesiah Mercado and his 4-month-old son Messiah Diaz in a drive-by shooting on Nov. 19.

The arrest warrant alleges that Morales fired shots at the car the two men were in because Mercado owed Morales $400 for the use of a Mazda SUV, the Associated Press reported. There is.

Before the fatal broad daylight shooting, there was an exchange between Morales and Mercado in which she told them her young son was inside the SUV. Witnesses told police that Morales said he didn't care, according to the Associated Press.

There were two other people in the car during the brazen crime, but only one was injured.

Morales' gun is believed to be fully automatic, according to the arrest warrant.

Following the shooting, Morales was finally arrested in Puerto Rico on November 23 after a massive four-day manhunt. He was extradited to Connecticut on Saturday.

Morales has been charged with two counts of murder, assault and other crimes, and if convicted could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

He was ordered held on $5 million bail at a court hearing Monday.
