Neighbor Allegedly Breaks In and Exposes Himself
On Tuesday, a man with a history of criminal behavior was accused of breaking into a neighbor’s apartment and engaging in inappropriate actions while she slept.
Laramie Briggs Jr., 44, reportedly entered the apartment of a young woman in Ashford, Connecticut, while she was napping on her couch during the day. According to a report from Connecticut State Police, Briggs proceeded to expose himself.
The victim awoke to find an unclothed Briggs looming over her. She acted quickly, managing to kick him out and contacting the authorities.
When the police arrived, she was able to identify him as her upstairs neighbor.
Officers knocked on Briggs’ door, but he refused to respond. Eventually, state troopers forced their way in and arrested him without any issues, as stated in the report.
In his mug shot, Briggs appeared disheveled, with glassy eyes, attempting to smile.
He faces multiple charges, including second-degree robbery, interference with a police officer, and disorderly conduct. Currently, he is held on a substantial bond of $150,000.
Briggs has a lengthy criminal record, which includes at least two prior prison sentences in Virginia, as records reviewed indicated.
In 2002, he had multiple convictions in Newport News, Virginia, related to theft, robbery, and various other offenses. Additionally, he had several traffic-related misdemeanors before he moved to Connecticut.
In Connecticut, things didn’t improve for him. In 2005, he was arrested on drug charges in Bridgeport, but it’s unclear if there were further legal consequences.
Interestingly, just this year, he was involved in another disturbing incident at a Hartford medical center, where he allegedly exposed himself during a nurse’s appointment.
The nurse reported that when she noticed his behavior, she turned away, but he continued with his actions boldly. Investigators even mentioned that it appeared he was testing her response to his shocking behavior.
