Connecticut mom Leslie Soyland searching for lost necklace that contains son’s ashes

A Connecticut mother is desperately searching for the necklace containing her son's ashes, which she lost while walking on the beach Wednesday.

After Leslie Soyland returned home from a walk at Calf Pasture Beach in her hometown of Norwalk, she realized her most prized possession was no longer around her neck.

Soyland had worn the necklace for 10 years, and received it on October 3, 2014, at the wake of her son Johnny, who died at age 27 in a car accident. According to Connecticut News 12.

“Monetarily it's not worth much, but emotionally it's everything,” Soiland told News 12.

This jewelry features a small teardrop charm with a heart inside a 30-inch chain that contains part of her deceased son's cremated ashes.

“I just feel like I’ve lost a part of me – it’s funny, but a part of me, you know? I think a lot of people don’t understand that and find it weird. , that's what I always had and that made me feel close to him, because we were very close, Soyland told Eyewitness News.

She believes it slipped off her neck when she took off her sweatshirt while walking on the beach.

The mother she left behind said she had retraced her regular three-mile walk along the coast many times in search of lost personal memorabilia, but to no avail.

“Just such an explosion is happening. I'm overwhelmed. I feel so blessed,” Soiland told News 12 through tears.

The paper said some nearby residents had already visited Calf Pasture Beach in search of the lost amulet, and had stumbled upon such a stranger with a metal detector. .

“Every time something bad happens, something good happens. And the good thing is that so many people are reaching out, so many people are sharing things on Facebook and saying, 'This is what I want to do.' Please pay attention to it.'' Johnny died, leaving behind a son.

“He was the best father above all else. He was amazing,” his mother said.

The necklace containing his remains has not yet been found.
