Britain’s Conor Benn earned a hard-fought unanimous points decision victory over previously undefeated Peter Dobson in a welterweight bout in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Benn, who is still banned from competing in his home country, had an early advantage, but was stopped by Dobson in the final stages of the match. However, each judge scored the bout for Ben, increasing his undefeated record to 23-0.
Ben, 27, is determined to return to martial arts in the UK, but will not be licensed in the UK while awaiting the outcome of the British Boxing Board’s appeal against the lifting of his provisional doping suspension. Not owned. National Anti-Doping Commission.
Benn has pleaded not guilty to intentional doping after testing positive for the female fertility drug clomiphene in 2022, and her appeal could be heard this month.
Meanwhile, Joshua Bouatsi showed signs of great form as he defeated British champion Dan Azeez in a WBA light heavyweight championship final eliminator at Wembley Arena. The skilled orthodox fighter handed Azeez his first professional loss with a 116-110, 117-109, 117-109 point victory.
Buatsi attacked the body right from the start. The Croydon fighter was elusive, combining jabs and hooks to Aziz’s frame.

The vicious cycle from the build-up was on full display in the third round, with both men swinging in the middle and trying to get an early stop. But Bouatsi’s early bodywork started to pay off, as an explosive fifth round opened up gaps in Azeez’s defense and allowed him to let go.
Bouatsi forced Azeez, who started winning consistent rounds, to fight at his own rhythm in the closing stages. Azeez was knocked down twice in round 11, giving Bouatsi a decisive victory.
