Mixed martial arts (MMA) champion Conor McGregor has reportedly announced that he will run for the Irish presidency in 2025.
McGregor posted to X on September 5th, detailing why he is the best person to be the chief executive.
“As President I have the power to not only dissolve but also convene the House of Representatives,” he wrote on his official social media accounts, “so as I've said before, I will have all the answers the Irish people want from worker thieves, family disrupters, small business destroyers and whatnot!”

McGregor also alluded to the idea of representing his country's people and spoke passionately about his political ambitions if elected president.
“These charlatans in power will be called to account to the Irish people and I will finish it off by the end of the day,” McGregor stated confidently.
“Otherwise we will be left with no option but to dissolve the House of Commons altogether. Until then, park the trains. The Irish people deserve the answers they want, quite bluntly,” Mr McGregor said in a lengthy statement.

The mixed martial arts star has been outspoken about his political views in the past, but this is the first time he has hinted at running for president.
“This is my prerogative as President. I know that very well,” he wrote.
MacGregor boasted about his abilities and declared himself the most capable man to lead the country.

“I am the only logical choice. 2025 is approaching…” he concluded.
The Irish President has many powers. According to Irish Presidency website. The office's powers include appointing the Taoiseach, Ireland's equivalent of Prime Minister, with the approval of the Dáil, the lower house of the country's parliament. It also appoints other government ministers, with the advice of the Prime Minister and the approval of the Dáil. Appointments of judges and other officials are subject to government advice.
The President can also convene and dissolve the House of Commons, as well as convene both Houses of Parliament and the Irish Parliament. The President is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Irish Defence Forces.
