Conor McGregor Suffers Injury at UFC 329

Conor McGregor appears to have sustained a suspected tear of his anterior cruciate ligament following an awkward landing after his initial jump kick against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Speculation arose suggesting McGregor may have been injured prior to the bout, but he has firmly denied these claims.

“I’m shocked by what happened. I was sharp and ready for this fight. Any notion that I was off is nonsense,” McGregor stated on X early on Sunday. He expressed disbelief over the incident, mentioning, “The devil is literally staring me in the face here. I’m not involved. I’ll be going to church tomorrow. I will get through this, I won’t flinch. I’ll be back.”

Footage aired during the event fueled theories online about McGregor’s well-being before he stepped into the Octagon. In a clip from before the fight, he was seen removing his right shoe with his left foot and then taking a cautious leap, seemingly losing balance rather than exhibiting a pre-existing condition.

According to a report, it seems that McGregor’s injury did not take place before the fight got underway. UFC president Dana White suggested that the injury looked like an ACL issue, saying, “I’m not a doctor, but I thought this when I saw it, and doctors share the same opinion.”

Before the match, McGregor was also seen warming up and delivering several kicks with his left foot, appearing uninjured at that time. White later noted that if clips from McGregor’s press events leading up to the match had been shared, “somebody would have noticed” any existing injury.

Despite the ongoing discussions about his injury, there’s still an air of excitement mixed with uncertainty. White mentioned, “I expected at least a one-round war. After a five-year break, who knew how Conor would perform in terms of cardio and other aspects? Well, we found out,” leaving fans eager yet anxious about McGregor’s future.
