Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sunday withdrew from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed former President Donald Trump, drawing applause from some social media commenters.
“If there was anything I could do to create a favorable outcome, I would do it by stopping more campaigns and doing more interviews. But without a clear decision, I would ask supporters to volunteer their time. You can't ask people to donate their resources,” DeSantis said Sunday in a video posted to his X account Sunday afternoon.
DeSantis continued that despite his past differences with Trump, he supports the 45th president in his bid for the White House this year.
“It's clear that the vast majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” he said, adding, “Trump has my support because we were once… “We can't go back to the old Republican guard of repackaged policies.” Warm corporatism represented by Nikki Haley. ”
