Colombian Football Federation president Ramon Jesullan, 71, and his son were among those arrested by police on Sunday, but new reports say at least 11 of those detained were also illegal immigrants.

Between Immigrants The two men taken into custody were Colombian nationals Luis Beltran Martinez and Elkin Mayorga, who were charged with assault on a police officer and criminal trespass, according to The Washington Post. Mayorga was also reportedly charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting a police officer with violence.
The Post, citing internal Department of Homeland Security documents, said Mayorga was due to marry the man in March 2022. Arizona State Border He was arrested but released a few days later with a tracking device attached.
A third man, Colombian national Algemiro Rodriguez, was also arrested Sunday on misdemeanor charges of disrupting a sporting or entertainment event and resisting without violence. The Post reported that he illegally crossed the Arizona border in October 2021 but was released a month later for being overweight.

An online listing from Miami-Dade Jail confirmed that Rodriguez and Mayorga’s cases are pending immigration charges.

Sunday’s game was delayed for more than an hour after police said “disorderly” ticketless fans had tried to break through security and enter the stadium. Miami-Dade police said police, “innocent spectators” and stadium staff were injured during the mass disturbance, in addition to the damage to the stadium.
“Despite these extensive security measures, numerous unruly ticketless fans attempted multiple times to breach the stadium gates and bypass security checkpoints intended to ensure the safety of all attendees,” the police statement read. “These actions endangered the safety of tens of thousands of fans and law enforcement personnel who had gathered to peacefully enjoy this historic match. In addition, extensive damage was caused to stadium facilities, as well as injuries to stadium personnel, law enforcement personnel and innocent spectators. This resulted in a swift police response, which led to several arrests and many more being removed from the stadium grounds to ensure the safety and security of all attendees.”

Police said 27 people were arrested and 55 were removed from the stadium grounds, with more than 800 officers from multiple agencies dispatched to the scene.
