Beverley was also seen throwing a ball into the stands and appearing to hit a female fan a few rows back from the Milwaukee bench in the head.
When another fan picks up the ball and throws it back to Beverley, Bucks players erupt in anger as teammates intervene to calm Beverley as police and security converge on the fans near the Milwaukee bench. He threw the ball back to the fans too much.
Beverly called the incident “an unfortunate situation that should never have happened” on a new episode of the show. “Pat Bev Podcast with Lorne” It was released on Wednesday.
However, he disputed reports that fans simply said “go for it, 3!” when the Bucks were trailing 114-94 with 2:32 left in the game.
“Let’s just say it was so much more than that,” Beverly said on the podcast. “I’m not here to shine a light on any particular story. I’m not, I’m here to make it clear that what I did was absolutely wrong. And it was never supposed to happen. I have to be better and I will be better. No matter what they say. It must not be.”
The Bucks guard insisted his issue was not an issue with Pacers fans as a whole, saying it was “a little more of an issue” than his reported Cancun comments.
“Obviously, I’ve been called a lot of names in this league. I’ve been called a lot of things. I’ve never been called anything like that,” Beverley continued.
The NBA player declined to reveal what his exact words were during a portion of his podcast, but said during a pregame layup line that a fan called him “something crazy” and that a security guard Beverley wanted to get rid of the fan, who said it all started when she asked the fan three or four times.
Beverley claimed that he was kicked out of the same group for touching a Bucs assistant coach.
Television broadcasts showed the group being escorted away by police security.
