Cops Open Criminal Investigation Into Patrick Beverley After He Threw Ball At Fans: REPORT

TMZ reports that police have launched a criminal investigation into Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley after he threw a ball at a fan during Friday’s season-ending playoff loss.

Beverley fired a ball at a Pacers fan during Game 6 of the Eastern Conference playoff series, which hit a woman in the face. Beverley apparently intended to hit the man sitting next to her, but he retrieved the ball and threw it again, this time finding his target.

Police ultimately filed an incident report regarding the incident, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson told TMZ. report.

Police forwarded the report to detectives and a criminal investigation has been launched, a spokesperson told TMZ. Detectives have obtained additional video footage from the incident and are interviewing witnesses and other parties, the report said. Beverley apologized for the incident, explaining that fans mocked him from their seats.

“It doesn’t matter what was said,” he said on the podcast. “I have to be better, and I will be better.”

The NBA has not yet announced any penalties or fines for the star guard.

Beverley is known as a fierce athlete, and this incident further tarnished his reputation.
