Corey Comperatore Identified as Victim Killed at Trump Rally

Former Pennsylvania Fire Chief Corey Comperatore was reportedly shot and killed on Saturday when a gunman attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania.

Comperatore’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, wrote in a Facebook post that her brother died trying to protect his daughter when a gunman opened fire on Trump.

Comperatore’s daughter Allison mourned her father’s sudden death, calling him “the best dad a girl could ask for.”

Allison said that when shots rang out, Comperatore quickly threw Trump to the ground to protect her and her mother after he was shot.

“He loved us so much that he would have taken an actual bullet for us,” Allison wrote on Facebook.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) confirmed at a press conference on Sunday that Comperatore was indeed the victim and called him a “hero” for his brave actions.

The gunman, identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire on presumptive Republican presidential candidate Trump as he camped on the roof of a nearby building outside the rally, attempting to assassinate him. Police said Crooks was shot and killed by Secret Service agents after plotting to kill the former president.

Two other rally attendees were seriously wounded in the shooting and were being treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to WPXI.
