Corey Comperatore’s family speaks out after fallen firefighter impersonated on Facebook

A representative for the Comperatore family told Fox News Digital that the family was appalled to learn someone was impersonating them to solicit donations.

“The recent news of fake Facebook accounts impersonating Corey Comperatore’s family and soliciting donations is deeply condemnable,” the representative said.

Helen Comperatore and her two daughters, Allison and Kaylee, were left to clean up the mess after Corey died trying to protect his family at a vigil in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13.

“Helen and her daughters continue to find comfort and solace through the heartfelt messages of support from people around the world,” the representative said. “The girls are grateful for the countless prayers and have asked that I convey their deep gratitude for the kindness.”

“It is heartbreaking that the Comperatore family is being forced to deal with malicious online scammers seeking to exploit their family’s deep pain,” the representative said. “Healing should be something all Americans strive for. Let’s be good neighbors. Let’s get involved in our church community. This is what the Comperatore family will do as they adjust to their new normal.”

A family representative said “only through the power of God” can the family recover after losing their husband and father.

“It is only through the power of God that Helen and her daughters will be able to recover from the loss of their beloved husband and father,” they said.

Comperatore, 50, was shot during an assassination attempt on the former president.

“Above all, Corey was the quintessential family man and the best father,” the obituary read. “His love for his wife, Helen Comperatore, was a testament to the power of partnership and commitment. Together they raised two daughters, Allison and Kaylee Comperatore, who will inherit his caring spirit.”
