Rep. Corey Mills Faces Rent Payment Issues

Corey Mills, a Republican representative from Florida, has been embroiled in various controversies, including allegations of stolen valor and domestic violence. Recently, he finds himself in another scandal tied to his luxurious D.C. apartment, which has a staggering monthly rent exceeding $20,800.

Independent journalist Roger Sorenberger revealed on Monday that Mills is potentially facing eviction due to unpaid rent for several months at a penthouse managed by Bozzuto Management Company.

Documents filed with the District of Columbia court indicate that Mills owes a total of $85,009.80 for rent from March to July. The landlord, Parcel 47F LLC, has provided evidence suggesting that Mills has consistently paid late since moving in back in June 2023, accumulating around $15,000 in late fees expected by January 2025.

In a letter to Mills, the property management company warned about the outstanding rent, stating that the balance stood at $17,361.00, with a total due of $18,229.05.

This situation seems to come on the heels of an earlier incident that involved police being called regarding an alleged domestic violence case involving Mills. The property managers have indicated that if things don’t change soon, Mills could be evicted.

Complicating matters, Mills appears to be paying rent for a beachfront property in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, which reportedly costs about $12,000 per month, while still struggling to manage the rent for his D.C. luxury apartment.

Mills’ annual salary as a congressman is around $170,000. His estimated net worth ranges from $8.15 million to over $40 million, raising questions about his ability to meet these obligations, especially since a recent investigation revealed that many of his businesses are in significant debt.

In response to Sorenberger’s allegations, Mills labeled the journalist a “biased hack,” asserting that technical issues—not negligence—caused the payment problems. He referenced multiple emails he sent to address broken payment links, some of which were only sent after the due dates.

However, Sorenberger noted that Mills provided documentation of his follow-up emails only after the rent was missed. He raised concerns about the timeline of Mills’ payments, questioning whether the congressman was truly late for the past 18 months.

Mills later responded in a forum on X (formerly Twitter), implying that his trouble with the payments is part of a broader attempt to disrupt the establishment.

A spokesperson for Mills claimed that he had resolved the issues with his landlord and that all bills had been paid in full.

Inquiries to Mills’ landlord and their legal representatives have been made to confirm the current status of the case and whether any legal action will ensue.
