Costco Gas Station Expansion in Santa Clarita
Costco’s chaotic gas lines might soon see some relief at a specific location. The retailer is moving forward to expand its gas station in Santa Clarita following approval from city officials for a significant upgrade.
The project, approved on March 24, involves tearing down a vacant building located at 18649 Via Princessa to make way for a new fueling facility. According to the documentation from the city, the new station will feature a fuel canopy, 16 multi-species dispensers, and four underground storage tanks, alongside fresh landscaping and parking. Meanwhile, the existing gas station will be decommissioned and torn down.
Images and updates shared on social media indicate that the old 24-hour fitness center adjacent to Costco has already been demolished to allow for this expansion.
Currently, Costco gas stations have 12 pumps, but this new setup is expected to accommodate 32 fuel dispensing locations, which would likely ease the long wait times experienced by customers. The project is being managed by Core States Group, a representative for Costco Wholesale.
Officials in Santa Clarita have assessed that the expansion will not significantly impact traffic, noise, air quality, or water quality, classifying it as exempt under California’s Environmental Quality Act regulations.
