Country singer Kacey Musgraves goes on a profanity-laced tirade against 'loser' Christopher Columbus – conservatives respond

Kacey Musgraves Criticizes Columbus at Texas Concert

During a recent concert in Texas, country music artist Kacey Musgraves didn’t hold back her feelings about Christopher Columbus, calling him a “loser” and referring to him as “the lamest person to probably ever exist.” This outburst came just a day before Columbus Day, making it particularly poignant.

On Sunday, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, she addressed the crowd, expressing her disdain: “Tomorrow’s Monday? Ew, that’s right, wait, it’s Columbus Day? It’s what now?” In response, audience members shouted, “Indigenous Peoples’ Day.”

Musgraves continued her critique, stating, “Yeah, no, no, yeah, actually, obviously, f**k Columbus. Literally the lamest person to probably ever exist. Like for real. What a loser.” Her passionate remarks were met with cheers from her fans.

The 38-year-old Grammy-winning artist stirred up quite the reaction online with her comments. Filmmaker Robby Starbuck expressed his disagreement on social media, arguing that Columbus was far from “lame” given his historic voyages and achievements, which included overcoming significant challenges at sea.

Political commentator Chad Prather also weighed in, contrasting Musgraves and Columbus’s contributions: “Columbus: Sailed across the sea and found a new continent. Kacey Musgraves: Stands on a stage in underwear saying ‘Columbus was lame.’ Do these people not see themselves?”

Former mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt chimed in as well, criticizing what he viewed as a lack of appreciation from today’s generation toward historical figures who built the foundations of society.

In 2021, President Joe Biden had made history by officially recognizing Indigenous Peoples’ Day, speaking on the contributions and resilience of Indigenous peoples. On the flip side, former President Donald Trump celebrated Columbus Day, noting the legacy of Columbus and expressing his support for the Italian American community.

Musgraves also engaged in political discourse beyond her concert remarks, taking a shot at former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem over comments regarding a dog she had to put down.

In terms of local politics, Musgraves posed for a photo with Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico, who had been notably absent from the campaign trail for a period. His Republican opponent had called attention to Talarico’s disappearance during a rally.

As the race for the Texas Senate seat heats up, opinions around Musgraves’ statements reflect a broader discussion on historical narratives and contemporary political sentiments.
