Bill Anderson Shares Health Update Following Accident
Bill Anderson, the country music icon, provided a health update on Monday, explaining the recent cancellation of a special performance due to a “freak accident.”
“Hello Gang: Since announcing that I wasn’t scheduled for the Grand Ole Opry last Saturday night, many of you have reached out to me and my team,” Anderson stated on his website.
“I truly appreciate your concerns. I’m doing well. It was a strange accident where I twisted or perhaps tore some ligaments or muscles in my left leg while trying to get onto my bed, and I ended up on the floor. I couldn’t walk,” he continued.
Anderson described the pain he felt after this sudden mishap.
“I was in agony and had commitments lined up, including a songwriting appointment with T. Graham Brown on Friday, the Opry on Saturday, and the WSM State Fair on Sunday,” he mentioned.
He expressed his determination to return, saying, “If you know me, you know how much I want to fulfill every commitment I’ve made.”
Ending on a hopeful note, he shared, “With lots of ice packs and painkillers, I’m feeling better today. I hope to put this behind me soon,” reflecting on his situation as an 87-year-old artist.
“Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and compassion,” he concluded, though he did not specify when he would be back on stage.
