Nationwide Recall for Dog and Horse Medications

A recall has been announced for certain dog and horse medications after glass fibers were detected in injection vials.

American Regent reported that specific lots of Adequan Canine Injection and Adequan Im Injectable Combination are affected by this recall.

The recall specifically includes two lots of Adequan Canine Injection, which is meant for treating joint issues in dogs, and two lots of Adequan Im Injection, used for joint problems and lameness in horses.

Both of these products are clear solutions, either colorless or slightly yellow, and are administered through intramuscular injections.

The company revealed that the glass fibers were found during a routine inspection, although they stated that there have been no reported injuries linked to these specific products.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled lots and either dispose of them or return them to the manufacturer. It’s also recommended to consult a veterinarian if any adverse reactions occur in pets after using these injections.

American Regent cautioned that using intramuscular products with foreign particles, like glass fibers, may lead to various complications such as irritation, inflammation, injection site pain, and infections.

Furthermore, veterinary hospitals, retailers, and distributors are being instructed to return any unused products to the manufacturer or dispose of them properly.
