Violent Incident in Queens Neighborhood

A couple in Queens faced a brutal attack and had their vehicle set ablaze early Sunday morning as they attempted to intervene during a gang gathering in their community, according to the victims and video footage.

The troubling scene unfolded around 12:30 a.m. when a group of reckless drivers converged on South Drive and 141 Street in Marva, performing donuts and speeding on the grass.

“When he came out, he said, ‘Brother, get off my property,’ and that’s how it all started,” Blake Ferrer, a victim, recounted.

Local residents were caught off guard when the sizable group took over their usually quiet neighborhood. City Councilmember Vickie Palladino noted this wasn’t the first occurrence of such chaos.

A video captured about a dozen individuals attacking Ferrer, resulting in a broken nose and ribs for him, with his wife also suffering injuries. “He was lucky he wasn’t killed,” Palladino emphasized, expressing her horror over the situation.

“It was a complete brawl,” added Larry Rush, a local resident whose car was also set ablaze during the commotion.

Rush, who runs a security company, explained he came outside to see roughly 40 cars participating in reckless driving. He tried to block their activities by parking his company vehicle at the intersection.

“As soon as I did that, everyone started leaving,” he noted.

However, the situation escalated as individuals approached his parked car, launching fireworks at it, leading to a renewed conflict.

Palladino shared a video showing a car speeding around and eventually igniting the flames. “To say this is a disgrace is an understatement,” she remarked, expressing dismay at the disruption in her district.

While some armed locals remained restrained during the chaos, Palladino warned that such restraint might not always hold. “If the city refuses to do what it needs to do, that could happen to our residents,” she cautioned.

The incident reflects ongoing concerns about local safety, particularly as residents noted that the area has seen similar reckless driving behaviors, though not to this extreme scale.
