Couple Arrested Over Illegal Activities at Virginia Hotel
An Indian couple has been apprehended for reportedly allowing illicit activities, including drug sales and prostitution, at a roadside hotel in Virginia.
Kosha Sharma, who is 52 and goes by ‘Mama or Mama K’, and her husband Tarun Sharma, 55, known as ‘Pop or Pa’, owned the Red Carpet Inn in Dumfries. They supposedly rented out the hotel while permitting unlawful activities on the third floor, according to a statement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
The criminal complaint indicates that the Sharmas purportedly received a share of the profits from these illegal operations.
“Drug trafficking and sex trafficking severely impact communities, taking advantage of vulnerable individuals and perpetuating violence and addiction,” stated Lindsay Harrigan, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. “Our office is dedicated to dismantling criminal organizations that benefit from human misery.”
From late May to mid-December 2025, law enforcement reportedly conducted nine prostitution stings and made 15 controlled purchases of fentanyl at the hotel.
During this period, eleven of these purchases were for fentanyl, while four involved cocaine. The complaint names Margo Waldon Pierce, 51, also known as Marco, as the person who distributed illegal drugs in all 15 transactions.
Additionally, Joshua Roderick, 40, and Rashard Perrish Smith, 33, were arrested for their supposed roles in the activities at the Red Carpet Inn.
“The defendants face charges for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, including fentanyl,” noted the press release.
Roderick and Smith are believed to be major drug traffickers collaborating across Northern Virginia, as claimed in the criminal complaint.
Margo Waldon Pierce, linked to Roderick in this investigation, reportedly resided at the hotel for extended periods between 2024 and 2025.
The complaint further alleges that the Sharmas charged their guests around $100 for rooms on the third floor, significantly higher than the rates for the first two floors.
“These arrests are the result of a collaborative investigation involving the FBI, Prince William County Police Department, and Virginia State Police,” stated Special Agent Reed Davis from the FBI’s Washington Field Office Criminal Division.
