Bear Intrudes into California Home

A surprising encounter between a dog and a full-sized black bear was captured on security cameras at a home in California last week. The footage shows the bear invading the backyard of Monrovia resident Zoe Cadman just before midnight on June 14.

Cadman shared the video on social media, showcasing the bear wandering around her kitchen, seemingly sniffing for food. This uninvited guest eventually crossed paths with her 17-year-old dog named Doodle.

According to reports, Cadman woke up to find the bear in her kitchen and, in a twist of events, Doodle bravely confronted the intruder, ultimately driving it out of the house.

The security footage depicted Doodle barking and growling as it engaged with the bear. At one point, Doodle left the room while the bear lingered behind.

In a post on Facebook, Cadman expressed her shock, saying, “Imagine waking up in the middle of the night and finding a bear rummaging through the fridge! I was just ten feet from it.” She admitted she didn’t grab her phone but instead ran out, praising Doodle for saving the day.

This incident echoes an earlier occurrence in Kentucky earlier this year, where a bear made a similar entrance by crashing through the ceiling into a kitchen after climbing into an attic.

As for both Cadman and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, they have yet to provide further comments regarding the bear incident.
