A Georgia judge has given the state Legislature the power to subpoena Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for information about possible misconduct in the prosecution of President-elect Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shukla Ingram directed Willis to submit by Jan. 13 a list of privileges and objections asserted regarding the subpoenaed materials.
Former Gov. Roy Burns (D-Ga.), who is representing Mr. Willis in the lawsuit, wrote in an email: Associated Press Willis says he plans to appeal the decision.
“We believe the verdict was wrong and we intend to appeal,” Burns said.
Earlier this month, an appeals court removed Willis from the case against Trump, citing “suspected fraud.”
The appeals court also noted Willis' romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.
“This is a rare case in which disbarment is mandatory, and no other remedy is sufficient to restore public confidence in the integrity of these procedures,” the court said.
In August, a Republican-led Senate committee issued a subpoena to Willis, forcing him to testify in September. However, Willis did not appear at the hearing where he was scheduled to be questioned by lawmakers.
The commission was created to investigate allegations of misconduct by Willis in prosecuting Trump over his efforts to overturn the former president's defeat in Georgia's 2020 election.
Burns argued that the Senate committee lacked the authority to subpoena her in the first place and that the subpoena was overly general and unrelated to valid legislative requirements.
One concern is about January 13th.tha term in the Georgia General Assembly ends when a lawmaker is sworn in for a new term. State Sen. Greg Dolezal (R-Ga.) announced last week that he intends to introduce legislation to reinstate the commission at the beginning of the 2025 legislative year.
“The law is clear and the ruling confirms what we have known all along,” Dolezal wrote. “Judge Ingram rejected all of Mr. Willis' arguments to avoid testifying to the committee under oath. We hope that Prosecutor Willis will honor the subpoena and provide documents and testimony to the committee. I am.”
