OnlyFans model Courtney Creney is attempting to shift the narrative as her murder trial approaches. She has requested that a judge in Miami-Dade restrict prosecutors from using her history of violence to paint her as the aggressor.

Creney, who faces charges in the 2022 death of Christian Obumuseli, intends to defend herself by claiming she acted in “self-defense and as a battered spouse,” according to legal documents recently filed in Miami-Dade Criminal Court.

In a filing from July 1, her attorneys asked a Miami-Dade judge to permit a 2020 arrest warrant related to Obumuseli’s alleged animal cruelty charges to be introduced if prosecutors characterize him as gentle or nonviolent.

The warrant in question cites Obumuseli for animal cruelty regarding his dog, Halo, in Travis County, Texas. The incident occurred on November 2, 2020, but it’s unclear how it was resolved.

Creney’s representation asserts that documentation reveals that after the apartment was vacated, staff found Obumuseli’s deceased dog locked away in a kennel, with food but no water, surrounded by feces. A veterinarian determined dehydration was likely the cause of death and that the dog had been dead for several days prior to discovery. The motion also suggests that Obumuseli provided vague and contradictory explanations about the dog’s demise.

This dispute over animal cruelty is part of a broader pretrial argument about how jurors should perceive the couple’s tumultuous relationship. A video recorded in an elevator, which prosecutors aim to use to depict Creney as the aggressor, is also in contention.

Creney’s lawyer argued in a separate motion that prosecutors are distorting the narrative by showing just parts of the police video. They claim the footage depicts Creney hitting Obumuseli and pulling his hair before he escapes the elevator.

However, the defense contends that the prosecutors are presenting the video out of context. Creney’s attorneys assert that earlier parts of the footage reveal her in a vulnerable state, barefoot and without possessions as she entered the elevator, with apparent injuries to her legs.

Once in the lobby, the defense claims Obumuseli wiped blood off the floor with his foot after entering the elevator and that Creney repeatedly attempted to close the door to escape.

During their confrontation inside the elevator, Obumuseli supposedly reached for his key fob and appeared to engage Creney physically as she tried to prevent him from coming into the apartment. Creney’s team alleges she hit him during the struggle to stop him, though prosecutors argue against this interpretation, pointing to findings by the Miami-Dade medical examiner that contradict her version of events.

Four months later, Creney was taken into custody at a rehab facility in Hawaii and charged with second-degree murder, to which she pleaded not guilty. There hasn’t been further comment from her attorney regarding the ongoing case.
