Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has not attended training camp so far this summer as he negotiates a new contract, and Lamb seems to be downplaying the idea of his absence lasting a little longer.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones updated reporters on Lamb’s contract negotiations Thursday, suggesting they’re not an immediate priority.
“There’s no rush to get it done,” Jones said.
Lam responded to Jones’ post on X with a simple and snappy response:
“LOL,” Lam wrote.

The Cowboys removed star receiver Lamb from the active roster and placed him on the reserve/non-reporting list ahead of their first exhibition game this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
Lamb has not participated in the team’s voluntary workouts or mandatory minicamp and is currently Training campHe will be fined $40,000 for each day he misses practice, and is set to receive $17.9 million in 2024 thanks to a fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

“It’s a business thing,” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters this week about Lamb’s contract situation. “Everybody understands he’s doing his time right now. When he gets here, we’ll take it. When he gets here, we’ve got to be smart and get him fired up and ready to go.”

Lamb was selected to the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive year and was named All-Pro for the first time in 2023. That season he recorded an NFL-leading 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, all career highs.
But Lamb is one of three Cowboys stars due to sign huge new contracts in the near future: Quarterback Dak Prescott is in the final year of his contract and the Cowboys are due to have a salary cap hit of $55.1 million in 2024, while star linebacker Micah Parsons is in the final year of his rookie contract and is expected to sign what could become the richest contract for a defensive player in NFL history.
As for a potential Lamb deal, the wide receiver market underwent a major reset this offseason when Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who was drafted in the same class as Lamb in 2020, signed a four-year, $140 million contract with $110 million guaranteed.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown signed a three-year contract extension this year averaging $32 million, while Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra Saint Brown signed his latest contract with an annual salary of $30 million, while Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill signed a three-year extension on his contract with an annual salary of $30 million.
Lamb is due to receive $17.99 million on his fifth-year option this year.
