CPAC Endorses Mike Collins for Georgia Senate Race
Breitbart News reported that the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has endorsed Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) for the 2026 Senate race in Georgia, aiming to unseat Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.).
Collins, who represents Georgia’s 10th Congressional District and owns a trucking company, is emerging as a key player in this early political landscape. He is backed by Governor Brian Kemp and faces competition from candidates like former University of Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley and Congressman Buddy Carter, who has been a longstanding Republican presence in the state.
“We proudly support Mike Collins in his fight for conservative and Christian values in the Senate,” stated CPAC President Matt Schlapp. He expressed confidence that Collins is determined to oust Ossoff.
Collins expressed gratitude towards the grassroots organizations that have rallied behind him, commending Schlapp and CPAC for their role in the conservative movement and for supporting Trump’s policies. “I will be honored to team up with them in the effort to defeat Jon Ossoff next November,” he mentioned.
CPAC has rallied over 100 endorsements from Georgia congressmen, several pro-Trump lawmakers, and even former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, among others. A Republican win in Georgia would help fortify the party’s narrow 53-47 majority.
Collins previously authored the Laken-Riley Act, signed by Trump. Currently, he is in a competitive three-way race in the Republican primary. An independent poll indicated that he is leading in various scenarios, despite a significant portion of Republican voters—around 40%—still undecided as Election Day approaches.
Collins has a strong grassroots campaign, boasting a network of over 550 county-level volunteers and being the only candidate with “convoy captains” in all counties of Georgia.
Polling averages indicate a close race, with Collins presenting the toughest challenge to Ossoff. RealClear Politics shows Ossoff with a slight lead over Collins, while the Cook Political Report ranks the race as a “toss up.”
Although President Trump hasn’t backed any candidate yet, he recently noted the quality of those running. He has thrown his early support behind Lieutenant Governor Bert Jones in the 2026 gubernatorial race. Trump remarked, “It’s crucial for Georgia to have a real senator, unlike the current one.”
The Georgia Republican Senate primary is scheduled for May 19, 2026. If no candidate secures over 50% of the vote, there will be a runoff between the top two contenders, leading to a showdown against Ossoff in November.
