“Crazy Rich Asians” star and “Daily Show” correspondent Ronnie Chen spilled his true feelings Tuesday about the people who voted for President-elect Trump on Election Day.
The actor and comedian appeared on ABC's “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” He then told the host that he didn't see anything wrong with voters having conservative views, but that there were a lot of stupid voters in this country.
“There is nothing inherently wrong or bad about it. [a] As a conservative-minded person, I just want conservatives who aren't idiots,'' Chen said, as Kimmel and the audience burst into laughter.

“Daily Show” correspondent Ronnie Chen told Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday that he hopes conservatives don't become “idiots.”
Kimmel asked Chen about his experience covering election night on “The Daily Show,” prompting a discussion, wondering whether the comedian and the show's team were prepared for the outcome that night. The comedian compared watching the results announced that night to witnessing a slow-motion car crash.
“Yes, it was,” Chen replied. “But unfortunately, I think we, as people who know exactly what's going on, kind of knew where it was leaning.” “Being able to broadcast it was a dream come true for a political history buff, an American political history buff, and it was also like watching a car slowly roll into the country.”
“And there's not much you can do at that point other than make stupid jokes about it,” he said.
The comedian went on to justify President Trump's victory as a sign that the pendulum is swinging back from liberalism to conservatism, as it has always done in American history. He then said that while there is nothing wrong with conservatives in theory, he made derogatory comments about current conservatives.

Chen went on to talk about his “MAGA friends.”
“I have MAGA friends. Now I have MAGA friends. I'm trying. That's how much I love America. I try to be friends with MAGA people. But sometimes my MAGA friends start to really like their messages.''It's complicated,'' he said. “The surface-level messaging is so chaotic that we can't understand what their core problem is.”
Chen continued, “Sometimes my MAGA friends will say, 'Ronnie, China caused the coronavirus, and the coronavirus isn't real.'” And I'm like, 'Okay, well. , I'm like, 'I don't know how I feel about that right now.' ”
