On Friday’s “CNN NewsNight” broadcast, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) said it should be pointed out that Hamas is still attacking Israel by firing rockets at it.
Gottheimer said: [are] There are some facts we need to look at. One is that we saw Israel taking responsibility for that tragedy… by removing the general and putting the blame on others.I think [those were] The right steps to take and the right actions to take. I think the key thing that we all have to focus on right now is making sure we reach a pause and be able to release the hostages. Remember, not only did Hamas kill over 40 Americans, they still have some violent Americans. They are now hostages…and what I was focused on in these last days in Qatar and Egypt was what to do to get the hostages home. And of course, how can we urgently get more humanitarian aid to Gaza? For me, these are her two main actions, and of course Israel is still dealing with rockets fired at Israel. So, it’s in the press, but if you were, I think it’s important to emphasize as well — that Hamas attacked Israel, that Israel is still dealing with rocket infiltration. That, and of course you’re dealing with an ongoing conflict where Hamas is saying they’ll do it a second time, a third time, a fourth time until Israel is destroyed from river to sea and all the Jews are killed. There is. So, to paint a more complete picture, there are certain facts behind what I think. ”
