Melania Trump discusses her new movie

In a recent interview on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy spoke with First Lady Melania Trump regarding her documentary “Melania.” Despite the anticipation surrounding it, critics have not been kind to the film, resulting in a notably low approval rating of 11% on Rotten Tomatoes as of Sunday, although it boasts an impressive 99% approval rating from verified audiences.

The First Lady held a screening of the documentary, which chronicles her life in the lead-up to the 47th presidential inauguration, highlighting preparations with President Donald Trump for their return to the White House. While the film garnered positive feedback from viewers, critics largely deemed it lacking, with some labeling it as “propaganda” supporting the Trump administration.

Simon Foster from Screen Space commented, “This is a movie that has no relevance to America today. It’s propaganda that helps shape the undemocratic future.” In stark contrast, Adam Olinger from the YouTube channel “adam does movie” expressed a preference for rewatching the events of January 6th rather than watching the film.

On the flip side, the Rotten Tomatoes audience reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. One viewer remarked, “A great film about the life of the First Lady of the United States. Every scene is so captivating and the music choices are perfect. America is definitely expressed most eloquently through Melania Trump. Every scene with Barron Trump is a joy. I highly recommend this movie.”

Another viewer described the film as a delightful behind-the-scenes glimpse of the days surrounding the inauguration, expressing gratitude that Melania chose to share these moments with the public.

Meanwhile, the documentary drew attention on social media, particularly for its mixed reviews. Despite the critical backlash, the film achieved a solid 99% rating among viewers. Comments on platforms highlighted the discrepancy between critical reviews and audience reception. Lee Wolf, executive producer of the Ruthless Podcast, criticized critics for being envious and uncooperative.

During the red carpet event, several attendees praised Melania Trump, expressing hope that the documentary would reveal a more personal side of her. U.S. Attorney Alina Haba stated, “I hope they see what I see. She’s incredibly astute. She takes the punches next to him and always carries herself with grace.”

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins mentioned her friendship with Melania, applauding her kindness and intelligence. Rollins added that viewers would catch glimpses of Melania’s authentic character in the documentary. Early projections suggest “Melania” may open with over $8 million at the North American box office.
