Crockett defends Biden: It's annoying 'that Democrats get into a frenzy'

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, on Saturday defended President Biden amid growing concerns about his shaky performance in Thursday night’s debate.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Ali Velshi, Crockett framed the general election as a choice between good and evil, saying, “There’s no one better than the sitting president.”

“I couldn’t care less if he took 90 minutes off and didn’t perform the way people expected him to. The reality is he’s 50,000 times better than Trump, the Republican Party is not going to abandon Trump, and he’s been convicted of 34 felonies with over 50 still pending,” Crockett said, referring to dozens of charges looming in three criminal indictments against former President Trump.

Crockett also reacted sharply to Biden’s shaky performance in Thursday night’s debate, blasting some Democrats who have discussed the possibility of replacing Biden at the top of the candidate list, while also noting that Biden has never been a good speaker and defending his character and record.

“The Democrats’ rage is so insane to me, and quite frankly, it’s pretty annoying. It’s like they’re scared of their own shadow at times,” Crockett said. “And I think it’s because we understand the danger.”

“And everybody says, ‘We need the best people,’ but I’m going to tell you, nobody has a better mind, nobody has a better human being. And honestly, when it comes to speakers, Joe Biden has not been that person,” she added.

She harshly criticized Trump’s debate performance and slammed him for taking credit for lowering insulin prices.

Crockett tried to ease concerns by presenting the race as a clear choice.

“This is an issue that concerns all of us, so if people want to be honest with themselves, they need to look at which team is delivering for them. If they’re happy with the money that’s flowing into their community because of infrastructure, the semiconductor and science bill, lowering insulin prices, then it’s because of Democrats,” Crockett said.

“Now is the time to make a choice for yourself and figure out which team you’re going to side with,” she continued. “If you want more chaos like what we’ve seen in this House, you’re going to have three times as much chaos if you side with Donald Trump, because he’s loud and he’s wrong.”
