Crooks shoot at Texas man after he tries to stop them from breaking into his work vehicles. Of course he fires right back.

Earlier this week, at least two would-be robbers opened fire on a Texas man after he stepped outside to try to stop them from breaking into his work vehicle, and the man immediately opened fire.

Pablo Covarrubias told KTRK-TV Shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, his 19-year-old son woke him up and told him suspects were trying to break into two vehicles used by an HVAC company.

“I think they'll think twice next time. Hopefully, they won't just take people's property.”

“I didn't have time to react. I mean, I just put the pistol next to my bed and got up,” Covarrubias told the station, adding that the incident happened in the Meadows area of ​​Clear Creek. Southeast Harris County.

According to KTRK, surveillance footage showed Covarrubias walking outside with his son, arriving just a few steps before the suspects opened fire.

Police said Covarrubias opened fire and the suspects fled in what appeared to be a black BMW.

KTRK said one of the bullets hit a jack-o-lantern on Covarrubias' balcony, but it was unclear whether his own shot hit anything.

“We don't know if the perpetrator or suspect was hit,” said Sgt. Hector Vega of the Harris County Precinct 2 Precinct Office told the department, adding that the suspect has not yet been identified.

Covarrubias noted to KTRK that he hopes his shot serves as a wake-up call to bad guys.

He told the station: “I think they'll think twice next time. Hopefully they'll think they can't just take people's property with them.”
