Stand With Crypto Endorses Congressional Candidates
Stand With Crypto, an advocacy group endorsed by the prominent cryptocurrency platform Coinbase, announced on Monday that it is backing 32 incumbent congressional candidates ahead of the midterm elections in November. This move highlights the growing influence of the cryptocurrency sector in Washington.
The endorsements, initially reported by Reuters, arrive as the Clarity Act—an important legislative goal for the crypto industry—faces delays in the Senate due to some lawmakers’ opposition. All endorsed candidates had voted in favor of the bill in the House last year, and Stand With Crypto aims to help these pro-crypto representatives secure re-election. Companies within the cryptocurrency sphere assert that the legislation would provide long-awaited legal clarity.
Mason Lynaugh, the executive director of Stand With Crypto, mentioned in a recent interview that their 2026 campaign is a continuation of their efforts from 2024, the first election cycle in which they participated.
“In 2024, we established that the crypto voter really exists. In 2026, we’re demonstrating our ability to organize and showing that our supporters are a genuine voting bloc capable of making an impact,” Lynaugh said.
Founded in 2023 by Coinbase, Stand With Crypto seeks to promote a grassroots advocacy initiative to support pro-crypto legislation. Its strategy revolves around mobilizing voters rather than relying heavily on large campaign contributions.
The organization claims to have amassed over 3 million registered “advocates” in the U.S.
Earlier this year, Stand With Crypto endorsed six candidates running for re-election. The latest group of 32 includes significant allies in the House, such as Republicans Tom Emmer and Bill Huizenga, alongside Democrats Ritchie Torres and Josh Gottheimer.
Some of the endorsed candidates, like Arizona’s Republican Juan Ciscomani and Pennsylvania’s Republican Brian Fitzpatrick, are in particularly competitive races.
“I think we can really influence the outcomes in some of these contests,” Lynaugh remarked. The group plans to reveal its Senate endorsements as the Election Day approaches.
In the 2024 elections, the crypto industry contributed around $170 million to support congressional candidates, many of whom emerged victorious. This financial backing played a role in the passing of the Genius Act, which set guidelines for dollar-backed cryptocurrency tokens known as stablecoins—an initiative that may enhance their adoption.
The sector has already invested approximately $200 million in the upcoming midterm elections, underlining its significant presence in Congress. A large portion of this funding has been funneled through Fairshake, a prominent super political action committee aimed at supporting candidates who favor crypto policies.
