Insiders say a serious lack of leadership and direction is at the heart of Google’s problems. Despite being a $1.7 trillion company with more than 150,000 employees and nearly 30,000 engineers, the company appears to be at a loss. There is a strange dynamic between founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the board of directors, and CEO Sundar Pichai, with employees expressing uncertainty about who is really in charge. and most employees are confused about the direction of the company.

This leadership vacuum created a “culture of fear” that permeated the entire organization. Employees at all levels are afraid to challenge processes and practices that are hindering the company’s ability to innovate. “I don’t think it’s possible to ship a good product at Google,” said one senior engineer.

Insiders say this dysfunctional environment is why the company hasn’t been able to acquire new product categories since Gmail, despite vast resources.

As Google faces an existential threat of losing its core search business to AI competitors, the need for a clear vision and strong leadership becomes even greater. While some employees have expressed hope that co-founder Sergey Brin might step up and provide some needed guidance, many believe that the company has deep-rooted cultural We still wonder if we can overcome the problems and regain our innovative edge.
