Former FBI special agent Stuart Kaplan criticized Democratic Mayor Eric Adams’ comments about illegal immigration on NewsNation Wednesday, calling them a “slap in the face” to sworn citizens.
Capalan appeared on “Cuomo” to discuss Adams’ recent comments that said immigrants could solve the city’s lifeguard shortage because they are “good swimmers.” Following footage of the New York mayor delivering his comments, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo asked Kaplan about his views and the “level of politics” in the United States. “I’m all for immigration. This is the greatest country on earth,” Kaplan said. “My biggest comment is that it’s a huge slap in the face to people who have followed the letter of the law and waited five, six, seven, eight years to go through the application process and be sworn in as public servants. I think that’s what American citizens think. I can personally say that people I know cry and kiss the ground they walk on. They are blessed and feel part of this community, part of our nature and country. ”
“They’re very happy,” he continued. “They join the military. They join our military, law enforcement, hospitals, all sorts of areas. I think that’s disrespectful to the people who uphold the rule of law. ”
“The other thing is, I have no problem with people temporarily coming into the country and contributing to society with proper testing,” Kaplan continued. “Unfortunately, the government is out of control. There are some individuals who have been released from prison and have come from different countries to ease tensions, and now their problem children are taking their problems with them. That’s our bigger problem. We have enough problems here in the United States. We don’t need to adopt other problems.
“One last thing: talk to your mother or father. [have] children in public schools. She speaks with people who have to go to the emergency room and wait 12, 14, 24 hours to see a doctor. Or you could go to a school with a class capacity of 30 people.
“Because it’s crowded with immigrants,” Cuomo jumped in.
“And that’s true. So where does the balance lie? We don’t have the infrastructure to support these people,” Kaplan said.
New York City has begun to feel the effects of an influx of migrants pouring into the sanctuary city from Texas since illegal border crossings through the U.S. southern border have increased. Residents say the quality of life in the city has deteriorated due to an increase in crime and the immigration crisis caused by the influx.
Roughly 30% of New Yorkers currently believe the quality of life in democratic cities is “excellent” or “good,” according to a poll conducted by the Citizens’ Budget Committee, compared to 2017 and 2008. 50% said the same.
