The House Budget Committee is set to vote on Friday regarding a GOP bill that incorporates many of President Trump’s key priorities, although a faction of hardline conservatives is threatening to oppose it.
This bill, titled “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” spans 1,116 pages and has progressed through various committees over the last couple of weeks, addressing topics like Medicaid, tax reforms, and food assistance.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) expressed confidence on Thursday that the committee would convene and advance the bill.
Despite this optimism, there are concerns. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) and Chip Roy (R-Texas) have indicated they will vote against it, and other conservatives on the committee have voiced their doubts as well.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
