Cybertruck crash that killed three college students blamed on drink, drugs and a speeding driver

A Tesla Cyberk crash that killed three college students who killed three college students who went home for Thanksgiving was caused by driver speeding and cocaine speeding, according to a new report on the investigation.

Soren Dixon, 19, Jack Nelson, 20 and 19 Christa Tsukahara all had alcohol, cocaine and other substances in the system when he died at Wreck on November 27th, while returning home from a party near Piedmont near San Francisco on the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Driver Dixon had a BAC of 0.195% (more than twice the legal limit) when the Tesla truck drove down the road, causing it to crash into a holding wall and explode into flames, investigations confirmed.

“Officers have determined that the combination of driving and unsafe speed under the influence of drugs is the cause of the collision,” the CHP confirmed in a preliminary report.

The fourth resident, 20-year-old Jordan Miller, survived the crash when another driver pulled him out of a burning Tesla, but he suffered serious burns.

All four were Piedmont High School graduates who had been home from college for a short break. San Francisco Chronicle Reported on Sunday.

The three died of asphyxiation from the inhalation of smoke from the car. Burns were also a “significant” factor in death, and were determined to be accidental according to the autopsy report.

Police officers responding to the crash were unable to extinguish the flames until the firefighters arrived.

Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan said the speed during the fire indicates that Cybertruck's large lithium-ion battery didn't light, indicating that he described the incident “along a typical car fire line.”

An investigation into the crash is underway, with a final report expected in the coming months.
