The Daily Beast has issued an apology and removed an article that suggested Donald and Melania Trump were introduced by a modeling agent linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
This rare retraction came after Melania Trump’s attorney reached out to the publication regarding the piece.
“After the article was published, the beast received correspondence from the First Lady’s lawyers challenging the headlines and overall framing,” the outlet noted. “Following a review, the beast removed the article and expressed regret for any confusion.”
The Daily Beast has thoroughly removed all references, including headlines, text, and links, from the original piece.
It seems like Melania Trump celebrated the removal on Friday. According to claims made in a piece from the New York Post about the article’s retraction.
The First Lady has not commented further.
The now-deleted article echoed previous allegations made by Michael Wolff, author of Fire and Fury, a critical bestseller from 2018 regarding the Trump administration.
In a February 2024 post on Truth Social, Donald Trump criticized Wolff’s new book, calling it “a total fake job.”
“His earlier works about me have been discredited as well,” he stated.
Wolff has claimed in his podcast that Melania contributed to the Trump-Epstein association. “She has been presented to Trump by a modeling agent connected to Epstein. He knows her quite well,” he alleged.
Weeks prior to the Daily Beast’s story, many Democrats and major media outlets had absorbed the ongoing Epstein scandal, which included his crimes and subsequent death in prison ruled as suicide.
Several Democrats are calling for the release of Justice Department documents related to Epstein, alleging an unfounded connection between Donald Trump and the convicted sex offender.
Though Democrats largely remained quiet during the Biden administration, various Republicans, including Vice President JD Vance, have pressed for the disclosure of Epstein-related government documents.
