FBI Deputy Director Takes Leave Amid Epstein Files Frustration
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has taken a break from work, as confirmed by two sources to Fox News Digital. This decision seems to stem from frustrations related to the handling of Jeffrey Epstein’s files.
Interestingly, it was noted that Bongino hasn’t been spotted in the office since Wednesday. This development follows a heated exchange between Bongino and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi at the White House earlier in the week.
Bondi Faces Criticism After DOJ Discloses Epstein’s Client List
This news comes shortly after President Donald Trump made headlines during a cabinet meeting, expressing his disdain for Epstein and others like him. Trump called them “creeps” while responding to reporters’ questions about Epstein.
“Can I pause for a moment?” Trump interjected when Bondi was queried about Epstein. “Are we still talking about this guy, this creep? It’s unbelievable.” He seemed genuinely baffled that Epstein was still being discussed.
Department of Justice Review on Epstein’s Allegations
On Sunday, the DOJ and FBI released a joint review, concluding that the widely speculated Epstein client list does not exist. This finding puts to rest the theories surrounding a list linking numerous powerful figures to Epstein’s alleged crimes.
Additionally, the DOJ reiterated that Epstein died by suicide in his prison cell in New York City in 2019, while awaiting charges related to sex trafficking.
Adding fuel to public anger, recently released prison surveillance video claimed to demonstrate that no one entered Epstein’s cell prior to his death. Yet, a one-minute gap in the 10-hour footage has led to speculation about possible cover-ups.
In response to Trump’s comments, a spokesperson noted that the President supports Bondi’s efforts to restore integrity to the DOJ and prioritize victim justice. Some critics, however, suggest that Trump’s ongoing focus on cabinet division is misguided.
