Dan Hurley makes shock reveal about this year’s UConn team

UConn head coach Dan Hurley believes his players can't handle his typical coaching style.

Harley was asked about the current state of Mud Dog Sports Radio's Husky on Thursday, and he revealed some of the team's coaching difficulties this year.

“I started breathing the fire and spoke like a coach who believed his team could compete for three peats,” Harley told the show. “We still think this team could potentially get on the roll later this year.”

But Harley continued, suggesting that this year's team doesn't feel they can handle “hard” coaching.

“I realized that I couldn't coach this team as much as I coached some of the other teams,” Harley continued. “If you have people like Cam Spencer, Andre Jackson, Donovan Klingan, these people get hard coaching. This year, our confidence has been rattling early in Maui. I know you had to build this team. I don't think any of us are prepared for the level of scrutiny throughout the year that comes with success over the last two years. That's me. I think it's heavy for all of us.”

Harley declined to work as head coaching for the Lakers last fall and chose to stay in the storyline to coach the Huskies.

UConn's season was full of ups and downs, eventually putting the Husky in fourth in the Big East.

Earlier this season, UConn suffered an Abelarious final finish to his latest location at Maui Invitational in 2024, losing the game to Memphis, Colorado and Dayton.

UConn then turned things around with an eight-game winning streak following the tournament, beating top teams like Baylor and Gonzaga in the process.

However, the team's success suddenly halted, but the recent recent loss came from Seton Hall, a bottom resident of the Big East on February 15th.

UCONN is scheduled to face St. John's on Sunday after Johnny knocked out the Husky at the Storms on February 7th.
