Dan Hurley's wife criticizes St. John's fans for hoping UConn loses in March Madness: 'Crappy'

St. John’s and UW Rivalry Intensifies

The ongoing rivalry between St. John’s and UW is palpable.

Dan Hurley’s wife, Andrea, appears to be quite involved in this dynamic.

During a recent appearance on the show “Field of 68: After Dark,” she shared her candid feelings about St. John’s fans. They had been cheering for rival UConn during their matchup in Washington DC last weekend, which clearly disappointed her.

“I’ll tell you… When we went to the (Elite 8) game, all the St. John’s fans were rooting for Yukon. That really hurt my feelings… It’s just sad and, quite frankly, it was terrible.”

This past Friday, UW faced St. John’s in the Sweet 16 but the Johnnys stumbled in their match against top-seeded Duke after leading in the second half.

Interestingly, Hurley himself mentioned being a bit of a St. John’s supporter during that game, despite his team having a mixed record against them this season.

“Do I want to face them? Probably not,” he reflected. “But honestly, I didn’t want to play at Duke either, so I was hoping St. John’s would pull through.”

Later that evening, UW almost lost a significant lead but managed to edge out Michigan State with some clutch plays. Hurley praised Andrea for contributing to their success, indicating she played a crucial role in keeping players in check during intense moments.

In a podcast appearance, Hurley labeled her the “Jersey boss lady,” noting how she stopped their players from rushing the court during a tense finish against Michigan State.

“Yeah, she certainly takes charge. Her expressions can be quite colorful. You have to see her during those warmups; it’s something else,” he joked.

Hurley also recounted a moment on a flight where he mentioned the team’s impressive record in the Final Four.

“I told her, ‘Can you believe we’ve made it to the Final Four three out of four years?’ and she replied, ‘I didn’t even know what the Final Four was until a few years ago!’”

Meanwhile, the UW team recently posted a video on social media where players acknowledged Andrea’s role, encouraging them to keep their cool from the sidelines.

They humorously noted her as a “team player” in their captions.

And by the way, the Hurleys celebrated their 28th anniversary in August. Quite the journey together, I’d say.
