Dana Bash Acknowledges Border Is a ‘Success Story’ for Donald Trump

Trump’s Impact on U.S.-Mexico Border Policies Acknowledged

During a recent segment, CNN’s Dana Bash noted that President Donald Trump has made significant changes at the U.S.-Mexico border since his return to office.

Upon taking office, Trump made several announcements, including an executive order aimed at addressing illegal immigration. His administration identified foreign terrorist organizations, including Mexican drug cartels and specific gangs like MS-13. Bash shared a series of visual comparisons between the Biden and Trump administrations, emphasizing the stark differences at the border.

“Zoran, you’ve reported extensively on immigration this year,” Bash said to CNN analyst Zoran Canno-Youngs. “Our producer Tess created a clear illustration showing how things at the border have changed since Biden was in office. In this context, green represents Joe Biden, while yellow indicates Donald Trump.”

“This really highlights the administration’s achievements, and Trump seems to want to capitalize on them,” Bash added. “His focus hasn’t received as much attention, especially regarding his commitment to arrest and deport individuals illegally residing in the U.S.”

Statistics indicate that during the Biden administration, Border Patrol encountered millions of undocumented immigrants. Many of these individuals were detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and subsequently released. In contrast, a statement released by the Trump administration on December 15 noted that there hadn’t been any releases of undocumented immigrants into the U.S. for seven consecutive months.

The Department of Homeland Security announced on December 10 that over 2.5 million undocumented immigrants have exited the country, with 1.9 million opting for voluntary deportation.

DHS further highlighted ongoing operations targeting more than 129,000 unaccompanied minors, which the Biden administration had struggled to manage. This included actions in cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Portland.
