Dana White successfully fielded a reporter's question about UFC fighter Sean Strickland's recent explosive comments. Afterwards, the UFC boss was quick to instill in reporters the importance of free speech.
At a press conference in Canada on Wednesday, Strickland berated reporters over their choice of questions unrelated to sports.
The reporter rehashed the following Tweet The text, created by Strickland in 2021, read: Be like her dad (lol)! ”
Minutes after his initial tweet, Strickland jokingly said: clarified His comment was, “Listen, gay men are great. I support them and their choices. Freedom! Gay men make it happen. Most gay men I know men are always happy. They all just hang out with their friends all day and have sex.” We straight men are screwed… we have to put in some serious work to have sex. not. It's not fair. ”
The Canadian reporter noted that Toronto has a “pretty supportive gay and lesbian community.” The reporter also touched on the Bud Light scandal and transphobia.
Strickland went on a rant about Canada and reporters.
“Then you're a weak son of a bitch,” Strickland lashed out. “You're part of this fucking problem. You elected Justin Trudeau. When he seizes your bank account, it's like you're just fucking pathetic. You don't have a fucking backbone.” Fact “And when he shuts down your fucking country and seizes your bank accounts, you ask me stupid things like that. Go fuck yourself. Move the guy's shit. .”
Strickland declared that he “likes gay assholes” and does not “hate assholes.” However, the UFC middleweight fighter said he has a problem with children being taught about sexual topics in school.
On Saturday at the UFC 297 event in Toronto, Canada, Strickland lost a middleweight championship bout to Doricas du Plessis.
After the events of UFC 297, Dana White was asked about Strickland's comments by a reporter during the post-fight press conference.
Mr. White said Mr. Strickland had been “fooled” by the question.
He added: “I do not seek to control other humans in any way, shape, or form.”
the reporter asked White. “You're obviously giving fighters a long leash on what they can say when they're there with a microphone in the UFC. White declared, “I'm not going to give anybody any strings. Strings? Freedom of speech. Controlling what people say? I'm going to tell people what to believe? I'm going to tell people… “What you say and what you think. There are no restrictions on those things.”
“It's ridiculous to give someone a lead. It's free speech, brother,” White continued. “People can say what they want to say and believe what they want to believe. And I don't think that's the case… There were two gay women who fought in the co-main event. They were sitting on stage with Sean Strickland. What is it, what is his opinion, etc. ”
White was referring to UFC fighters Raquel Pennington and Maira Bueno Silva – both of whom are gay.
