D’Andre Swift Stays with the Bears: Contract Extension Details

Great news for Bears fans and fantasy football enthusiasts: D’Andre Swift will be sticking around for a while.

Chicago finalized a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension with Swift, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This deal includes a whopping $27.5 million guaranteed, ensuring the veteran running back remains with the Bears until the end of the 2029 season.

This is quite the investment in Swift and signals a strong commitment to the running back position—something that doesn’t go unnoticed in today’s NFL landscape.

Now, Swift, who is 27 years old, was entering the last year of his previous three-year, $24 million contract signed with the Bears back in 2024. But following what many considered his best season overall, Chicago is making a clear statement about their future with him. This is even more interesting given their selection of Kyle Monangai, who performed well during his rookie season and was picked in the seventh round of last year’s draft.

In 2025, Swift recorded a career-high 1,087 rushing yards, along with nine touchdowns from 223 carries, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt. He also contributed significantly in the passing game with 34 receptions for 299 yards and another touchdown, serving as a reliable option for emerging star Caleb Williams.

On the other hand, Monangai put up solid numbers, too—he had 169 carries for 783 rushing yards and five touchdowns, plus 18 catches for 164 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Last season, the Bears ranked third in the league with an impressive total of 2,456 rushing yards, a performance bolstered by both Swift and Monangai, which also led them to their first NFC North title since 2018.

In addition to their success on the field, the Bears managed to secure their first playoff victory since 2010. They edged out the Packers in a thrilling 31-27 wild-card game before narrowly losing to the Rams 20-17 in overtime during the divisional round.

Before joining the Bears, Swift had played for the Eagles in 2023 and was drafted in the second round by the Lions in 2020, where he spent his first three seasons in the NFL. Interestingly, Swift’s only Pro Bowl appearance came when he was with the Eagles, where he finished the season with 1,049 rushing yards, 229 carries, and five touchdowns.
