Former Lakers head coach Dervin Ham has left his old team.
Ham is currently an assistant coach with the Bucks. I talked to Andscape. Ahead of his team's NBA Cup win in Las Vegas on Tuesday, he pushed back on some of the stories that have come to light in his final weeks as Lakers coach.
Los Angeles fired Ham on May 3 and ultimately replaced him with JJ Redick.
Ham led the Lakers to a 90-74 record in his first two seasons and a berth in the Western Conference Finals in 2023.
But questions arose regarding Ham's decision-making, lineups, rotations and tactics, and his early exit in the first round of last season's playoffs was the final straw.
“To do as well as I did, I swear to God, other places would probably see an extension of what I did,” Hamm told the outlet. “I'm not talking about emotions. I'm talking about actual facts. They go from not making the playoffs to the NBA Final Four, the conference finals, and an in-season tournament. , overcoming injuries and winning both play-in games to advance to the playoffs.

Hamm told Andscape that injuries played a role in his poor 2023-24 season, but he feels he has “a little bit more core.”
