California Father Criticizes Governor Over Daughter’s Accident
A father in California is expressing his frustration with Governor Gavin Newsom, claiming that his repeated requests for assistance regarding his daughter’s serious injuries have gone unheeded for years. Following an accident involving an illegal immigrant truck driver, his daughter Dalila was left unable to walk or speak.
“When the accident happened, I tried to reach out to the governor’s office, both by phone and email. But I never heard back,” Coleman shared on Tuesday during his appearance on the “Will Cain Show.”
The incident involved Partap Singh, an undocumented immigrant from India who was operating a commercial truck. Reports from the Department of Homeland Security indicate that he failed to stop at a construction site, resulting in a crash that impacted the Coleman family’s vehicle.
Dalila, who was just five years old at the time, endured a lengthy coma and sustained life-altering injuries. Now at seven, she is non-verbal and is in the process of relearning how to walk, necessitating extensive ongoing medical treatment.
Coleman expressed his discontent over the family’s denial of Social Security benefits and other forms of government assistance for Dalila’s rehabilitation. “It feels as if we’re left to handle everything on our own,” he said. “I’m trying to manage my own work and support her needs, but it’s overwhelming and we still find ourselves short on resources.”
As a truck driver himself, Coleman criticized California’s policies that permit foreign drivers to obtain commercial driver’s licenses with few restrictions, labeling it a “gross negligence.” This situation has sparked national conversations, with officials from the Trump administration, including Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, commenting on the matter. Duffy remarked that “California’s poor leadership is failing Americans like Dalila every day.”
Coleman echoed concerns about the political motivations of California’s leaders, suggesting their focus seems more on personal gain than on public safety. He pointed out that the only communication he received from Newsom was a social media post that appeared to blame others for politicizing the tragedy, which Coleman felt disregarded his daughter’s suffering.
Addressing California’s leaders directly, he stated, “They need to listen to the people here. We matter. Governor Newsom should pay attention to us and take responsibility for addressing these issues.”
Fox News reached out to Governor Newsom’s office for a comment but did not receive a response. In a previous statement, his office maintained that the federal government, rather than the state, was accountable for the crash and expressed sympathy for the Coleman family.
