The daughter of the woman reportedly murdered by Jill Biden’s ex-husband expressed her profound grief in a touching social media post on Wednesday.
William “Bill” Stevenson, who was married to Jill Biden during the 1970s, was arrested on Monday for suspicion of killing his current wife, Linda Stevenson, last December in their home in Delaware.
Christine Vettori, Linda’s daughter, shared in her Facebook post that her mother was not just a parent but her best friend. They would speak every day and have dinner together each Friday.
Vettori conveyed, “The pain of losing her is numbing, and the emptiness in my heart is profound. Most days, I can barely breathe.” She also added, “To those who knew her, I’m sorry that the light was taken away from you too.” She vowed to seek justice and ensure her mother’s legacy is remembered beyond the circumstances of her death.
Linda, aged 64, was discovered dead in their home on December 28 after police responded to a domestic disturbance and found her unresponsive on the living room floor.
While the cause of her death has yet to be confirmed, after weeks of investigation, Bill has been charged with murder. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bail following his arraignment in Wilmington court on Monday.
Bill was previously married to Jill Biden for five years before their divorce in 1975. After that, Jill wed Joe Biden, then a senator from Delaware, in 1977, shortly after the tragic death of his first wife and daughter in a car accident.
Bill claims that Jill and Joe had an affair before their divorce, alleging he introduced them in 1972. The Bidens, on the other hand, deny these claims, stating they first met on a blind date in 1975.
In her post, Vettori mentioned that her mother “deserves her own story, not the story of Jill Biden’s ex-husbands.” She fondly remembered Linda as a bookworm who participated in 5K runs to support local charities and promote healthy living.
Vettori emphasized that her mother, who had her at a young age, was more than a parent; they essentially grew up together and shared every moment.
