Emotional Wedding Tribute to Late Firefighter Father

Christine Marino recently experienced a deeply moving moment as she got married, honoring her father, Kenneth, a firefighter who lost his life on September 11 when she was just three years old. This past week, her nine brothers confirmed that he was indeed present in spirit during her wedding.

On Wednesday, the retirement and new firefighters from Kenneth’s Hell’s Kitchen Rescue Company gathered outside the Plaza Hotel, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride. It was an unforgettable sight that made Christine, now 27, feel overwhelmed by emotion. She shared her feelings from her honeymoon in Hawaii on Saturday, stating, “Seeing so many firefighters lined up in honor of my dad was surreal. It brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of the incredible brotherhood within the FDNY.”

She expressed how cherished it was to have both fire trucks there, saying, “It felt like my dad was walking down the aisle with me. I am so thankful to the FDNY firefighters who turned my wedding day into something truly special.” She even captured the poignant moment on video.

In the emotional clip, Christine captioned, “My dad was taken away from us on September 11, so he couldn’t show up at my wedding, but look at who did.” This heartfelt post garnered 2.4 million views, highlighting the unbreakable bonds of brotherhood among firefighters.

With the fire truck in view, Christine wiped away her tears, absorbing the special significance of the gesture. Her mother, Katrina, and brother, Tyler, were also visibly moved. Christine mentioned, “We kept trying to hold it together, but tears started flowing. It was like once one of us shed a tear, it set off a chain reaction.”

She added, “Kenny would be so proud to know that the rescuers were there for us.” After capturing some photos near the fire truck, the FDNY family escorted Christine and her family to the wedding venue at Rockefeller Center.

“I know my dad smiled knowing I was taking care of him,” Christine shared, speaking about her wedding to musician Noah Schnacky.

Marino nostalgically recalled visiting her father at his fire station on the morning of September 11, where he put both her and her brother in the same truck before tragically losing his life just an hour later. “He had been a firefighter for over 20 years,” Christine reflected, honoring his legacy.

She also fondly remembered stories of her father’s bravery that day. “I heard that when he was in the tower, he was suffering a heart attack but paused to help a fellow firefighter who didn’t want to leave,” she said, highlighting the selflessness that characterized her father’s life.
