Daughter of Cuban Revolutionary Figure Arrested by ICE

Arena Rosales Aguilereta, 37, the daughter of a prominent figure in Cuba’s communist revolution, has been taken into custody by ICE agents in Florida for overstaying her tourist visa while working as a plastic surgeon.

Aguilereta, daughter of the esteemed Cuban general Ulises Rosales del Toro, entered the United States on a tourist visa in 2023. However, reports indicate she remained in the country illegally after her visa expired.

She mentioned that federal immigration officials apprehended her last month while she was employed at a plastic surgery clinic in Miami. According to ICE and various media outlets, Aguilereta trained as a plastic surgeon in Cuba.

Her father, who served under Fidel and Raul Castro, is revered in Cuba as a hero of the revolution and has held significant government roles.

ICE announced on social media that Aguilereta has been charged for being a nonimmigrant overstay and is currently awaiting a hearing with an immigration judge. They also stated they would provide further information as it becomes available.

Aguilereta arrived at Orlando International Airport on a B-2 tourist visa on November 21, 2023, and stayed in the U.S. illegally after her visa expired in May 2024. Reports suggest she was arrested by ICE agents on May 26 while working as an assistant at a Miami clinic.

No additional details regarding her arrest or the ongoing legal proceedings have been disclosed by federal authorities.

Ulises Rosales del Toro, now 84, is celebrated in Cuba, having fought alongside the Castro brothers in the Sierra Maestra mountains during the late 1950s revolution. He also led Cuba’s military during the 1970s invasion of Angola and has served in various high-ranking roles, including Minister of Agriculture and Sugar, which is crucial for the country’s economy.

Since President Trump’s return to the White House, there has been an increased focus on illegal immigration, particularly targeting relatives of senior officials from Cuba.

Aguillarreta’s arrest follows that of Addis Lastres Morera, sister of Brigadier General Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, who is linked to a military group controlling much of Cuba’s economy. This arrest, while reported widely, has not been officially confirmed by federal authorities.
