Daughter of missing American in the Bahamas points to 'past problems' and calls for investigation

American woman missing at sea, FBI expert involved in Bahamas boat trip disappearance case

Lynette Hooker, a 56-year-old American, vanished at sea on April 4 after her husband claimed she fell overboard during a boating excursion in the Bahamas. Former FBI Special Agent Nicole Parker has commented on the baffling details of the situation, which includes the ongoing search by the U.S. Coast Guard and some keys that were discovered linked to the missing woman. Her daughter is insisting on a comprehensive investigation.

The daughter of Lynette Hooker voiced her concern following the revelation of “prior issues” related to her mother’s disappearance, prompting a call for a thorough examination of the circumstances. Officials say Lynette fell from the boat she was on.

On Saturday evening, Lynette and her husband, Brian Hooker, left the Abaco Inn near Hope Town, using a small boat to reach their yacht. According to Bahamian officials, they were headed to Elbow Cay when the incident occurred. It was reported that while holding onto the ignition key, Lynette fell overboard, causing the engine to stall. Brian managed to paddle to Marsh Harbor marina and reported her missing early Sunday morning.

Carly Aylesworth, Lynette’s daughter, expressed her desire for a thorough investigation, particularly highlighting that her biological father is not Brian Hooker. “There are various concerns that may be crucial for a comprehensive inquiry,” Aylesworth noted. “If this was truly an accident, I could come to terms with it. But, it’s essential we evaluate all facts surrounding this tragic event first.”

While the Royal Bahamas Police Force is conducting their investigation, Aylesworth welcomed support from federal, state, and local agencies to probe the nuances of this unfortunate situation. Her brother, Mr. Islesworth, mentioned that there is “very little information available” and emphasized his sole focus is to determine what happened to their mother and ensure an exhaustive investigation takes place.

The U.S. State Department has been contacted regarding the matter, and they confirmed awareness of the missing American national near Elbow Cay. They are collaborating with Bahamian authorities to provide assistance. Additionally, the State Department noted that the Bahamas’ boating regulations are quite lax, often resulting in injuries and fatalities.

Authorities haven’t disclosed if Lynette was wearing a life jacket during the incident. The couple was actively sharing their boating experiences on social media, with Lynette posting a picture just before the accident, humorously stating her boat wasn’t going anywhere for a while.

The search continues, with multiple organizations, including the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and Hope Town Fire and Rescue, involved in the effort to locate Lynette Hooker.
