Gun Law Debate Intensifies After School Shooting
The contentious conversation around stricter gun laws has gained momentum following a tragic incident where two children were killed and at least 17 others injured at a Catholic school in Minneapolis.
The shooter, Robert Westman—who later identified as Robin Westman—shared a video on social media along with a handwritten manifesto titled “Kil Donald Trump” and “For the Children” in a gun magazine.
While many on the left argue that the gun itself is to blame, others express concern over what they perceive as a significant deterioration of the shooter’s mental health.
Jeremy Ryan Slate, a contributor at Blazetv, remarked on a show hosted by Dave Landau, “No one is discussing the psychopharmaceuticals that these kids might be on.” He suggested there needs to be a deeper look into this issue.
He continued, “I believe this all ties back to SSRIs. It’s something that truly requires more attention, especially since Jim Marles once conducted extensive research on it.” There seems to be a consensus that understanding these medications is crucial.
Austin Robertson, another Blazetv contributor, chimed in, reflecting on the therapeutic process, “Sometimes seeing a therapist can feel like diving into a bottomless well of past experiences.” It’s an ongoing cycle, it seems—returning to past traumas instead of moving forward.
The conversation isn’t just about treatment though; SSRIs are not the sole focus. Slate pointed out the rapid prescription of hormones to transgender individuals, drawing a parallel to the quick prescribing practices of SSRIs. “It’s alarming how swiftly hormones can be prescribed after just one appointment,” he mentioned.
“All of this confuses me,” Landau admitted, adding that he doesn’t have concrete statistics on these matters. The potential risks of layering hormone treatments without thorough consultation raises significant concerns.
Landau concluded with a sense of urgency, saying, “I sometimes feel that science is being pushed aside in these discussions.” It’s a complex, tangled web of issues, all demanding attention and careful consideration.
