Republican businessman Dave McCormick and Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania) officially secured their party’s nominations for Pennsylvania’s Senate seat Tuesday night after both ran unopposed. I let it happen.
They will face off in one of the most-watched U.S. Senate races this year. Mr. Casey’s seat represents a golden opportunity for Mr. McCormick and the Republican Party, which aims to regain control of the Senate in 2024.
Despite having no rival in the primary, McCormick’s dedication was on full display Tuesday as he campaigned across the state, from Bucks County in the east to Pittsburgh in the west. Ta.

Former President Donald Trump, who supports Mr. McCormick, urged voters to vote for him and Mr. McCormick ahead of Tuesday’s business records trial in Manhattan.
Trump said McCormick is “a very hard worker,” adding that he is a “successful person” who “wants to use his success to serve his country.”
“He’s going to be a very good senator, so I hope they support Dave and go vote today,” he added.

McCormick thanked President Trump in a post about X.

Pennsylvania is the only state where Democrats and Republicans swapped seats in the 2022 midterm elections, with Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) defeating prominent Republican doctor Mehmet Oz and replacing former Pat Toomey. He won a seat in the U.S. Senate (Republican, Pennsylvania).
This officially gave Democrats a 51-49 majority in the Senate, although they had previously only had a formal majority. Vice President Kamala Harris served as the tie-breaking vote.
